Happy 18^th Anniversary, Restoration Fellowship! God is so good!

 

In January of 2003, my attorney called me and said there was a church building going on sale. He asked if we would be interested in it. Three months before, we had started a new church here in El Paso called Restoration Fellowship. We had outgrown the school room we were renting from Jesus Chapel School, on Bessemer at that time, and were looking for a new place to call home. Some five months later, this small, fledging congregation moved into this property. The dream God had given us many years before was now a reality. There are too many stories to tell and too many miracles to recount, so let me suffice it to say, on this our 18^th Anniversary, “He’s Been Faithful” to us all these years. We have made many missteps but He has always been faithful and will continue to be faithful in the future. This Scripture has been on my heart all week. 

 

2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

 

Today, I want to encourage us that God will be with us as we go on. There will be challenges, but He is able to sustain us. There will be new things to learn, but God will teach us. We may not always be sure which way to go, but God will lead us!

 

Haggai 2:5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!

 

Let’s talk about God’s faithfulness for a few minutes.  

 

A. God’s faithfulness to us is:

 

Everlasting - Psalm 119:90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides.

 

Established - Psalm 89:2 For I have said, “Mercy shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens.”

 

Unfailing - Psalm 89:33 Nevertheless, My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail.

 

Infinite - Psalm 36:5 Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

 

Great - Lamentations 3:23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

 

Incomparable - Psalm 89:8 O Lord God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O Lord?

Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

 

B. God is faithful to give us:

 

Counsel - Isaiah 25:1 O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name,

For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

 

Covenant - Deuteronomy 7:9 Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

 

Forgiveness - 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

 

Protection - 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 

 

What our future holds. 

 

One church – many locations. 

 

Same message – new methods. 

 

More ministry- many people. 

 

Family – old and new.
