DAD DYNASTY

DAD DYNASTY

INTRO VIDEO “The Robertson Family”

GAMES AND GIVE-AWAYS

INTERVIEW Durwood Keeton

Dynasty: a family who rules over a country for a long period of time; also the period of time when a particular dynasty is in power

EXAMPLE: Ming dynasty in China;

Dynasty: a family or a team that is very powerful or successful for a long period of time

EXAMPLE: Rockefeller, Kennedy, Bush; Celtics and Lakers; Cowboys, Packers; Yankees and Dodgers; Brazil and Mexico;

GODLY EXAMPLES: Graham family; Eliots; Garzas; Serranos;

How did we get a "Duck Dynasty"? The Robertson family has built an amazing family over multiple generations. God wants to do that for all of us.

Look at God’s promise to David:

2 Samuel 7:11 NLT Furthermore, the LORD declares that he will make a house for you—a dynasty of kings!

David reminds Solomon:

1 Kings 2:4 NLT If you do this, then the LORD will keep the promise he made to me. He told me, "If your descendants live as they should and follow me faithfully with all their heart and soul, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.”

Solomon didn't do real well in that area so God kept His promise to David but divided the Kingdom into two parts and gave a man named Jeroboam a chance to have his own house or dynasty.

1 Kings 11:34-38 NLT "I will not take the entire kingdom from Solomon at this time. For the sake of my servant David, the one whom I chose and who obeyed my commands and decrees, I will keep Solomon as leader for the rest of his life. But I will take the kingdom away from his son and give ten of the tribes to you. His son will have one tribe so that the descendants of David my servant will continue to reign, shining like a lamp in Jerusalem, the city I have chosen to be the place for my name. And I will place you on the throne of Israel, and you will rule over all that your heart desires. If you listen to what I tell you and follow my ways and do whatever I consider to be right, and if you obey my decrees and commands, as my servant David did, then I will always be with you. I will establish an enduring dynasty for you as I did for David, and I will give Israel to you.”

Jeroboam didn't follow through. He led Israel away from God. As a result Israel has at least 5 different dynasties and every one of the 20 kings were evil!

Although David and his descendants were not perfect, their family was the only ruling dynasty in Judah and half of their kings followed God!

Psalms 89:35-37 NLT "I have sworn an oath to David, and in my holiness I cannot lie: His dynasty will go on forever; his kingdom will endure as the sun. It will be as eternal as the moon, my faithful witness in the sky!”

Jeremiah 33:17 NLT For this is what the LORD says: “David will have a descendant sitting on the throne of Israel forever.”

Luke 1:32 NLT He (Jesus) will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.

Today I want to talk about how your family can be a dynasty for God!  It is not just the dad’s responsibility.  Dads want to win; dads want their family to win.  You can help dad build the dynasty you all want!

KEY #1: The Lord builds your house!

Psalms 127:1 NLT Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted.

God has always been a builder. Notice these “I wills” God said:

To Abraham, Genesis 12:2 NLT "I will make you into a great nation."

To David, 2 Samuel 7:11 NLT "I will make a house for you—a dynasty of kings!"

To us, Matthew 16:18 NLT "I will build my church!"

God wants to build in us something for His glory; some thing for His purpose!
KEY #2: Your family has a calling!

The Robertson family have a dynasty based on an idea, a unique calling that came from God.

Alba and I have a calling to build churches and Christian schools to raise up generations that will usher in end-time revival!

What is your family's calling?  Have you thought about it? Have you even considered it? Ask God! Life is about more that just making a living, it is about making a difference!

II Timothy 1:9 NKJV who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,
Each of us have an individual calling before God, but each family needs to seek the Lord for their purpose as a family!

In the game we played earlier, sons gave insight to fathers; Duck Dynasty is led now by a son; the Graham family is led by a son.

KEY #3: God is committed to your destiny!

Jeremiah 29:10-14 MSG This is GOD’s Word on the subject... “I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised…  I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen. When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed!”

Don't be afraid to step out and seek God’s purpose for your family!

Isaiah 43:1-7 MSG But now, GOD ’s Message to you,  “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am GOD, your personal God, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you; that’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world… trade the creation just for you. So don’t be afraid: I’m with you.”

Now some practical action steps...

1.     Convene a family conference and talk about your family purpose.
a.     What is your history, your story?
b.     What difference would you like to make?

2.     Discuss the individual purposes of each family member.
a.     What is your desire?
b.     If money was not an option, what would you do?
c.     What breaks your heart?

3.     Ask God to work out your individual purposes within the framework of your family destiny.

Romans 8:28 NKJV And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Ephesians 1:11-12 MSG It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
