THE POWER OF WISDOM

THE POWER OF WISDOM
“It’s OK to Be a Wise Guy”, Wisdom Series, Session 2

ME As I have gotten older, I have realized the importance of wise decisions. The problem was I couldn’t always determine which decision was right.
Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

I have discovered the key to life is to make decisions using God’s wisdom.
WE There is a wisdom that comes from man. It is developed by learning and trial and error.
Genesis 3:6 (NKJV) So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
It seemed to be a good decision, but it led to separation, exile, and death!
GOD God’s wisdom is so much greater than human wisdom.
1 Corinthians 1:19–31 (NKJV) For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”
1 Corinthians 2:1–8 (NKJV) And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
There is a wisdom that does not come from your education, your experience, or your expertise. I am talking about a wisdom that comes from the Word of God, the written Word and the living, breathing Word of God, the rhema word of God!
This is a truth I want us to hear this morning: God’s wisdom is powerful. When I operate in God’s wisdom, a power is released to accomplish what He has directed.
God created the world by using wisdom.
Psalms 136:5 (NKJV) To Him who by wisdom made the heavens, For His mercy endures forever;
Proverbs 3:19 (NKJV) The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens;
Jeremiah 51:15 (NKJV) He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, And stretched out the heaven by His understanding.
Now we know God created all we see and know by His spoken word. He said let there be and it was created. There power in the spoken Word of God. There is a creative power that is released when God speaks.
So it is with wisdom. Wisdom the divine revelation of God’s will through the spoken Word of God! So this is wisdom: the rhema word of God.
Hebrews 1:1–3 (NKJV) God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Let me give you an example: Mary. The angel came to her. You will bear a Son. How can this be? The angel went on to explain.
Luke 1:37–38 (NKJV) For with God nothing will be impossible.” Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Nothing, no thing, no rhema, will be devoid of power. When we hear the Word of God, accept it, and act on it. The the wisdom of God releases a creative miracle to bring it to pass!
Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV) So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
YOU When you are facing a decision, listen for a rhema word. In that word will be the creative power to bring it to pass.

Woman with issue of blood, virtue,
WE How do we get a word of wisdom?
1. Live in fellowship with Jesus.
1 Corinthians 1:24 (NKJV) but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
1 Corinthians 1:30 (NKJV) But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
Get saved
Daily quiet time
2. Meditate on the written Word.
Psalms 1:1–3 (NKJV) Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
Joshua 1:8 (NKJV) This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

How does this work?
First, we will know God’s principles. For instance, Proverbs is the best business book ever written.
Second, the Word separates our soul and spirit so we can know if something is coming from our mind and emotions or is it coming from the voice of God.
3. Ask God for wisdom.
James 1:5 (NKJV) If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Proverbs 2:3 (NKJV) Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding,
Psalms 57:2 (NKJV) I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.
